David R. Edwards - 1 reference result
David R Edwards was lead singer of the Welsh language post-punk/experimental band Datblygu, was born in Aberteifi, Ceredigion. The band was formed at an Aberteifi school in 1982. A witty and incisive lyrical talent whose use of language is almost reason in itself to learn Welsh, according to John Peel.
As well as Datblygu, David worked with Tŷ Gwydr and pioneering dance act Llwybr Llaethog on L.L. v T.G. MC DRE (1992), around which time he took up work as a secondary school teacher. Sadly, health problems and alcoholism forced Datblygu into retirement after releasing the Putsch double A single in 1995. David himself has since been largely ignored by a mainstream Welsh media loath to lend the band column inches in the first place, but interest was recently revived after Ankst Records rereleased 1993's classic Libertino in a triple disc box set along with the first two albums Wyau and Pyst.
