Damion Fletcher (born July 1, 1987 in Biloxi, Mississippi) to mother Chantel Coffee, and is an American football player running back for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
High School Career
Played for Coach David Russell at
Biloxi High School. Finished with 952 yards and 13 touchdowns as a senior. Had 1,750 yards and 26 touchdowns as a junior when he led them to a 7-4 record. An all-district selection for two years. Region 4-5A Offensive Player of the Year. Two-time
Sun Herald's All-Coast team twice. Second team All-State by
The Clarion-Ledger. Team Most Valuable Player and team captain. State runner-up in the high jump. A two-star rating by
rivals.com. All-Southeast Region by
PrepStar.
College career
In 2006, he ran for the thirteenth most yards by a freshman in
NCAA history.Set Southern Miss and
Conference USA freshman rushing records with 1,388 yards 276 carries(5.0 ypc)and 11 touchdowns. Number 11 in the nation in rushing, the No. 1 true freshman rusher and No. 25 in all-purpose yards. No. 2 in
C-USA in rushing, No. 7 in all-purpose yards and No. 8 in touchdowns scoring. School's first 1,000-yard rusher since 2002 and No. 2 single-season ground gainer. Helped the offense finish with over 2,000 yards rushing for the first time since 1987. Named the team's offensive Player of the Week following his performances against Florida (9/2), UCF (9/26), and Tulane (11/11). Also in 2006,
he was named a Freshman
All-American by The
Sporting News.During his sophomore year Fletcher rushed for 1586 yards on 295 carries(5.4ypc) and 15 touchdowns. He also had 29 catches with 227 yards(7.8 ypc). He was awarded the
Most Valuable Player award following the 2007
GMAC Bowl in
Mobile, Alabama. He was a finalist for the
Conerly Trophy in 2006 and won the award in 2007.

Also in 2007, he was named
Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year by CollegeFootballNews.com He is a second team All-American by Athlon Sports. Damion Fletcher is a beast. Honored as the toughest running back to bring down by
