DECT Standard Cipher
is an encryption
standard, used in DECT
phones to protect communication between a handset
and its associated base station. As a part of the DECT standard, the encryption algorithm was not openly published and was only available under NDA to the phones' manufactures from the European Telecommunications Standards Institute
June 8, 2002 parts of the Samsung DECT SP-R6150 implementation was "reverse engineered
" and published in the alt.anonymous.messages
newsgroup. . The published algorithm seems to be a variant of the free CARACACHS algorithm.
