Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse

Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse was a children's cartoon television show produced by Trans-Artists Productions that was syndicated by Tele Features Inc. in 1960. The characters were created by Bob Kane as a parody of his earlier works, Batman and Robin. In the animated series, the pair are anthropomorphic animal superheroes who live in the Cat Cave and, when summoned by their canine Chief at police headquarters via the Cat Signal over their television set, rush to the scene of the crime in their sleek red Catmobile which can convert into the Catplane and thwart the criminal plots of various villains who threaten Empire City by using either Courageous Cat's all-purpose Cat Gun or a vast variety of different deus ex machina "trick guns" out of his cape that, like Green Arrow's trick arrows, fire whatever the situation requires be it rope, water, a parachute, lightning-like magnetic rays or even the occasional bullet. Although they fought many miscreants the duo's recurring archenemy who appeared in nearly every episode was the chortling, cigar-smoking kingpin known as the Frog whose voice was based on Edward G. Robinson. Dal McKennon and Bob McFadden provided the voices for the series.

Not seen for many years due to complaints over the hero's constant use of guns and the Frog's ever-present cigar, all 130 five minute long episodes were released to DVD on October 29, 2002 by A&E Home Video.

The memorable theme song written by Johnny Holiday featured a walking bass line and has been performed in concert by the New York Dolls.
