The Society website talks about the Society’s mission:
“Dedicated to the advancement of cosmetic science, the Society strives to increase and disseminate scientific information through meetings and publications. By promoting research in cosmetic science and industry, and by setting high ethical, professional and educational standards, we reach our goal of improving the qualifications of cosmetic scientists. Our mission is to further the interests and recognition of cosmetic scientists while maintaining the confidence of the public in the cosmetic and toiletries industry.”
The primary source of income of the SCC is from membership dues. The SCC is a member of the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists.
The IFSCC also publishes a Magazine, and Monographs, and holds an annual meeting in various cities around the world in conjunction with the host country’s society.
The SCC holds a national meeting once a year in New York City, and a national scientific meeting once a year in various cities around the country. It publishes a scholarly journal, the Journal of Cosmetic Science: The Official Journal of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists.
as well as various monographs about cosmetic testing and cosmetic ingredient technology.
