Congleton is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elects one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.
Following their review of parliamentary representation in Cheshire, the Boundary Commission for England have made minor changes to the existing arrangement as a consequence of population changes. The electoral wards used in this seat are co-terminous with the borough of Congleton.
The constituency was established at the 1983 general election, largely from parts of the former Crewe and Knutsford constituencies. Since then it has been held comfortably by the Conservative Ann Winterton, the wife of Sir Nicholas Winterton, the MP for the adjacent Macclesfield constituency.
