Comrades: Almost a Love Story

Comrades, Almost a Love Story is a 1996 Hong Kong film starring Maggie Cheung, Leon Lai, Eric Tsang and Kristy Yang, and directed by Peter Chan. The film is about 2 Chinese mainlanders trying to make a life in Hong Kong and ends up falling in love. It is an epic love story that spans 10 years. Because of their own previous commitment, they were forced to leave each other, only to find each other again after they have immigrated to America. It was filmed in Hong Kong and New York City.

The Chinese title of the film is from a famous song by Teresa Teng. The movie centers around the 2 characters and their love of the famous singer who died a year before the release of this film. This movie is consider a love song in memory of Teresa Teng. Christopher Doyle, an internationally-known cinematographer plays an English teacher.
