The Coffee Song

"The Coffee Song" is a novelty song first recorded by Frank Sinatra in 1946, with lyrics by Bob Hilliard and music by Dick Miles.

The song describes how Brazil has a surplus of coffee - "an awful lot of coffee in Brazil" - to the point that no other beverages are available. Snowclones on this phrase have been used in analyses of the coffee industry and of the Brazilian economy and culture , , ,

Notable cover versions

The song has been performed by (among others) Sam Cooke, Rosemary Clooney, and the Muppets; a Bob Dorough jazz version of the song appeared on Too Much Coffee Man, a CD of music based on the eponymous Shannon Wheeler character.
