Dr.
Sonja Boehmer-Christiansen is a research Associate in Political Ethics at the
Institute of Applied Ethics,
University of Hull. She is an Emeritus
Reader in
Geography at the
University of Hull in
Kingston-upon-Hull England, and part of the
"Environment and Spaces of Governance" She was born in
Dresden East Germany. Dr. Boehmer-Christiansen teaches 3 modules at the University and is the author or co-author of numerous peer-reviewed journal articles on energy and environmental issues related to political and policy matters. She is a self-proclaimed skeptic ("Environment becomes fashionable and I turn sceptic" heads a section on her bio page) and says her "approach to the teaching of environmental management is therefore analytical and 'critical', and my non-teaching time is spent as much on maintaining and promoting participation in policy debates as on writing academic papers and books."
She has been editor of Energy and Environment since 1996. The publication, an "interdisciplinary journal aimed at natural scientists, technologists and the international social science and policy communities" (ISSN 0958-305X), is published 8 times a year and has 20 internationally-located members on its editorial advisory board. Of the journal she says that "The focus is on energy policy debates in relation to the numerous environmental 'concerns' that have surfaced in recent decades."
