Charles Alexander Harris

Sir Charles Alexander Harris (June 28, 1855March 26, 1947) governor of Newfoundland from 1917 to 1922 was born Wrexham, Wales.

Harris graduated from Christ's College, Cambridge in 1878. He began his career as a clerk in the Colonial Office and became Chief Clerk in 1917. Also, in 1917 Harris was knighted and appointed governor of Newfoundland. Harris wrote essays on the history of Newfoundland and was a contributor to the Dictionary of National Biography.
