"Catch You" is a pop dance song written by Cathy Dennis and Greg Kurstin, produced by Kurstin for Sophie Ellis-Bextor's third album Trip the Light Fantastic (2007). It was released as the album's first single on February 19, 2007 in the UK in the formats of digital download, CD single and 12-inch single.
Single release
The single was presented on New Year's Eve 2006/2007 on the BBC's "New Year Live" show. The music video was filmed in Venice and Sophie Muller directed the video. The full video was released to UK music video channels on the 13th of January. The video has been compared to the movie Don't Look Now (1973).
When the song was released, its immediate competition included Kelis's single "Lil Star", The Fray's "How to Save a Life", Take That's "Shine", Justin Timberlake's "What Goes Around..." and Mika's "Grace Kelly". "Catch You" peaked at number eight in the UK top seventy-five and also did very well on the UK iTunes charts, peaking at number three on the iTunes Alternative chart and at number nine on the main chart. It did well on the Australian Dance chart, which it stayed on for ten weeks, peaking at #7. The CD single stayed on the ARIA Physical chart for 10 weeks as well, where it peaked at #33. It reached the B-list section of Radio 1's playlist and the A-list section of BBC Radio 2's playlist. "Catch You" stayed in the UK top forty for two months and it went to sold 120,000 copies as of July 2008.
