Although, Manchester born, Carryl was raised in Watford, and is now a dedicated season ticket holder of Watford Football Club.
In 1995, Carryl was the "face" for "Jinny" for hit singles “Keep Warm” & “Wanna B with U“ which reached No.11, and No.30 in UK singles chart, selling over 100,000 copies. Carryl also made a TV appearance on TOTP on 13.7.1995 as Jinny, and Keep Warm was included on the Now That's What I Call Music! (CD Series) — Now, Vol. 31 (UK) CD. However, Carryl has been accused on several internet sites of not actually singing on the records.
Carryl also appeared in a video for a group called Black Duck where she "sings" but the voice is different from the singer Jinny.
the original "jinny - keep it warm" was an italian house track released in 1991 on ZYX records..so even though carryl varley may have fronted a group called jinny in 1995 it is very unlikely..as this jinny has been recording music 4 years longer
The original Jinny - Keep It Warm, was written by Alessandro Gilardi, Claudio Varola, Federico Di Bonaventura & Walter Cremonini http://www.discogs.com/artist/Jinny
Pop unlimited website (see references) has suggested that the songs are by Sandra Chambers or Jenny Bursola.
