West Midland Safari Park

The West Midland Safari And Leisure Park is a safari park located on the A456 in Bewdley in Worcestershire, England, opened in 1973.

The park contains a 4-mile safari. The safari section contains around 600 animals from around 30 different species from Europe, Africa, Asia, Australasia and North America. Along with the 4 mile safari, is a large theme park, a 'Discovery Zone' containing reptile and insect houses among other attractions. Also, there is access to Spring Grove House. The whole park is built in the grounds of the house.

The park contains many animals that are on the IUCN's endangered list. These animals include the asian buffalo, Philippine spotted deer, African wild dog, banteng, aye-aye and the Madagascan jumping rat, along with the critically endangered addax, bactrian camel, Pére David's deer, Bengal tiger, Amur leopard and Rodrigues flying fruit bats.

The park contains the largest pride of white lions in the UK, with around 15 individuals in the pride. The only other two white lions to be found in the UK are in Hertfordshire. One of the largest herds of common hippopotamus in Europe can be found at the park, as well as the largest group of white tigers in the UK.

The latest exhibit at the safari park is 'Cheetah Plains'. At the start of the 2008 season, 2 cheetah were let out into their own exhibit. In August, another 6 cheetah aged between 7 and 15 months joined them, bringing the total number of cheetah at the park to 8.
