The song contains samples from the song "I Believe" by Triumvirat. The beat of the song and a similar chorus were used by other rappers on several freestyles but the topics were different. These rappers include Papoose, Tyrese, Cassidy and Quan. In the most recent remix, The Notorious B.I.G.'s song "Ten Crack Commandments" is put over the beat.

In the video for "The Cake" 50 Cent's verse is cut out.
