Butantã (pron. butɐ̃'tɐ̃, tupi for "crushed soil") is a borough of the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It is located on the west bank of the river Pinheiros and divided into six districts: Butantã, Jaguaré, Vila Sônia, Rio Pequeno, Raposo Tavares and Morumbi. Butantã has many high-class residential areas but also accommodates the immense slum of Paraisópolis.

The borough hosts the headquarters of the government of the State of São Paulo in the Palácio dos Bandeirantes (Bandeirantes Palace), and also the main campus of the University of São Paulo. Morumbi Soccer Stadium, the largest private soccer stadium in the world, is nearby and the home ground of São Paulo FC, winners of the 2005 FIFA Club World Championship.

The world renowned Instituto Butantan is also located in the borough.
