The
Buddhist Association of China (
SC: 中国佛教协会) is a major organization of
Chinese Buddhism. It was founded in 1953. The Buddhist Association has warned of
Falun Gong, a qigong practice defined as an "evil cult" by the Communist Party of China, that is outlawed and persecuted in the
People's Republic of China. However, the Association is a branch of the Chinese government, not an independent entity.
The current president is Venerable Master Yi Cheng, who was an organizer for the World Buddhist Forum.
