BISC is an independent, fee-financed society, authorized by the Ministry of Social Affairs. It is situated in Zamalek, a residential area on a large island close to the center of the city and within a three-minute walk of the private Gezira Sporting Club where the sporting facilities are extensively used by the school.
The Good Schools Guide International states that the school provides "A very happy time for some pupils, less so for others, but most emerge more robust and able to take on greater challenges," adding "It offers a world class education – arguably the best in Egypt - and prestige. To be a BISC graduate certainly says something.
Y9 students are required to study for and take the ICDL (International Computer Driving License).
BISC is a selective entry school and prior to admission, students undergo informal interviews with the Principal. Further interviews are carried out by the relevant Heads of Schools. Admission is also subject to the availability of spaces in the required year group and, of course, the parents' financial situation.
