Bourton is part of the borough of Rugby and is located around six miles south-west of the town of Rugby, just south of the B4453 road.
Bourton-on-Dunsmore was mentioned in the Domesday Book. Bourton Hall in the village is a large stone mansion house which dates from 1791, and probably stands on the site of an earlier house.
Bourton is located upon a ridge overlooking the Draycote Water reservoir. Draycote is located at the bottom of the ridge towards the reservoir. Just to the west of Bourton is the village of Frankton.
