Bottom Live 3: Hooligan's Island

Bottom Live 3: Hooligan's Island is a live stage show that was viewed at Bristol in 1997, written by and starring Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmonson. This is the third installment of five live Bottom shows, and one spin-off movie named Guest House Paradiso.

Plot

Richard Richard (Mayall) and Edward Elizabeth Hitler (Edmonson) are stuck on an island in the middle of nowhere. The show is basically "How not to survive on an island"! The show is split into two acts- In the first act, we see some of the things Richie and Eddie get up to to pass time (Such as Richie falling into the island's latrine and Eddie telling Richie that he rescued an unconscious "bird" from the beach which he put into his hammock-Richie goes to ogle the "bird", but it turns out to be an Albatross) and in the second, Richie and Eddie are sharing the island with a 15 megaton nuclear bomb. This act sees Richie and Eddie try to disable the bomb, but their plan backfires when they accidentally detonate it.

VHS & DVD Release

Shortly after it was filmed , it was released on VHS and in 1999, it was released on DVD.

In late 2006, a DVD box set titled the Big Bottom Box, contains the show, along with the other 4 live shows, the movie and a "Best of Bottom Live" mockumentery titled Big Bottom Live.

Trivia

This show is subject to a huge blooper midway through the act. During one scene Eddie was supposed to momentarily distract Richie so he could retrieve a medical kit from his secret Japanese bunker then return and cure Richie from a dart poisoning. However, when exiting the bunker Eddie doesn't close the door properly and when Richie looks around he clearly sees the door to the bunker. Out of character Rik Mayall then bursts into a fit of hysterical giggling and is unable to continue. Eddie then improvises a plot where the poisoned dart also gave Richie momentary amnesia and will not remember the door until act two when he is supposed to, which Richie goes with.
