Unlike most BitTorrent trackers, Blog Torrent does not require control of a domain or opening up a separate port; it operates on any random web host, allowing bloggers to share files they have created over BitTorrent without having to worry about finding a stable public tracker.

Blog Torrent's "Easy Download" client is similarly simple. It allows Windows users to download a file through BitTorrent without having to install special BitTorrent software.

Blog Torrent did not achieve widespread popularity because of the increase in web hosting bandwidth and free video hosting services such as Google Video. However, for hosting extremely large video files or full CDs, it is still a simple and working option.
