Ben Quilty
Ben Quilty is an Australian painter who won the 2002 Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship.
He received a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the University of Sydney in 1994, a Certificate in Aboriginal Culture and History from Monash University, in 1996, and a Bachelor of Design (Visual Communications), at the School of Design, University of Western Sydney.
He was a finalist in the Archibald Prize in 2004 with Whytie; in 2005 with Beryl; in 2006 with Cullen - before and after (a painting of Adam Cullen); and in 2008 with "self portrait after Madrid".
He uses thick paint and is known for paintings of cars. .
