Bassignana (in Piedmontese Bassignan-a) is a comune (population 1,802) in the Province of Alessandria, Piedmont, Italy. The village is situated near the confluence of the Po River and the Tanaro.

Many emigrants to America (Memphis, Tennessee): at present many Surnames there from Bassignana, including Vescovo, Torti, Orsi, Robilio, Bursi (Burzi), Barzizza (Barzi), Sampietro, Soro and Grillo.
