In 2003, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts
(BAFTA) announced that they would be splitting their BAFTA Games Awards
from the BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Awards
. The Games Awards are given to recognize eminent computer and video games
The first BAFTA Games Awards were presented on February 25, 2004.
See BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Awards for previous BAFTA awards given to games.
Due to the date of the awards being moved to the end of the year no awards were given for 2005. Games from that year were covered in the 2006 awards.
The BAFTA Video Games Awards will not take place in 2008, although games from the year will be judged in the 2009 ceremony that will take place on 11 March 2009
