ALM operates 53 miles of line from Crossett to Monroe, Louisiana. ALM interchanges with Kansas City Southern at Monroe and with Fordyce and Princeton Railroad at Crossett, and then via trackage rights to Fordyce, Arkansas, where it connects with Union Pacific.
ALM traffic generally consists of lumber, paper, forest products, and chemicals.
The line was opened on October 1 1908 as the Arkansas, Louisiana, and Gulf Railway. The line changed hands several times as a result of numerous bankruptcies (taking the names Arkansas Louisiana Midland Railway and Arkansas, Louisiana and Missouri Railway, among others). In January 2004 Genesee and Wyoming purchased ALM.
