- 1185: Established as Diocese of Üxküll from the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Hamburg, Germany
- 1202: Renamed as Diocese of Riga
- 1252: Promoted as Metropolitan Archdiocese of Riga
- 1540: Suppressed
- 1918.09.22: Restored as Diocese of Riga
- 1923.10.25: Promoted as Archdiocese of Riga
- 1937.05.08: Promoted as Metropolitan Archdiocese of Riga
