Aptakisic-Tripp Community Consolidated School District 102

The Aptakisic-Tripp School District is a school district in Illinois. It is mostly in the city of Buffalo Grove. It operates four schools and covers grades Kindergarten through 8.

There are 2 K-4 schools, Pritchett Elementary School, and Tripp Elementary School. There is one middle school for grades 5-6 which is named Meridian Middle School. The junior high school, which is for grades 7-8, is named Aptakisic Junior High School.

Students who live in the district boundaries attend Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire; Stevenson is not controlled by District 102 but by Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125.

The district was originally spilt into the Aptakisic School and the Tripp School during the 1800's and fist half of the 1900's. Due to a growing city of Buffalo Grove, the schools united into one in the 1960's. Along with a united district came a brand new school. By the 1970's the school was unable to handle the growing city and the school was torn down and the Aptakisic School came up. By 1979, grades K-5 began going to the new Pritchett Elementary School. In the late 1980's, Tripp Middle School was built serving grades 3-5, at which point Pritchett Elementary served only grades K-2. Aptakisic School was now a junior high serving grades 6, 7, and 8. By 1994, Meridian Middle School was built to handle grade 5 and 6, while Tripp Middle School became a elementary school serving K-4, alongside Pritchett.
