Apademik joined the U.S. Army Infantry in October 1996. After basic training he was then able to purchase a pair of Gemini XL500 Turntables. During his service with the U.S. Army Infantry, (Bravo Company 1/87th Infantry, 10th Mountain Division,) Apademik served as a Fire Team Leader, in Operation Joint Forge in the Former Yugoslavia for Nine months, during the Kosovo Conflict, where he led Combat Infantry Troops. Apademik lead and served in such missions as MND North Anti-Sniping Team, Convoy Support, International Airport Security, Evacuating the U.N., Strategic Checkpoints, Riot Control, Recon Support, and Providing Direct Combat Support to Special Forces Units. In between missions Apademik would be seen Cutting Wax at on Base Clubs, and Rockin Mics on U.S.O. Stages.
Apademik received an Honorable Discharge in October 1999. He also received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Nato Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge With Rifle Bar. After leaving the U.S. Army in 1999 Apademik moved back to West Hempstead, N.Y., where he then enrolled in Audio Engineering at Five Towns College in Dix Hills, N.Y. (2001-2003).
Apademik then started the company Funkin Beatz Entertainment Corporation, in 1999 (www.FunkinBeatz.net). Apademik has performed at a host of clubs including The Toronto Convention Centre, Salt Lake City UT, Club Speed NYC, C.B.G.B.'s NYC, Scopa Underground NYC and many, many more. He has also been seen on Real Tyme Live (Ch 20), and heard on radio stations such as 105.5 Toronto, 88.7 WRHU (NY), and Street FM 90.1 WUSB (NY).
