While Inscrutable Americans was a funny take on an Indian Going to the US, Making the Minister smile is more of serious reading. At first it seems like a humrous novel on an American coming to India, but as you read you realise it is a crtique on the Indian way of life. Its poverty, politics, humour, its eccentricities all from an outsiders point of view.
