Antimelatoma ahipara is a species of predatory sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Turridae, the turrids.
Distribution
This species is
endemic to
New Zealand, found off
Ahipara on the west coast of
Northland in the
North Island.
Habitat
This turrid is found at depths of about 42
m.
Shell description
The shell is slender, with a glossy surface and a wide steeply descending shoulder slope. The shell is axially
costate, crossed by spiral cords, two peripheral ones stronger than the rest, and nodulose at points of intersection.
The shell coloration is buff, indistinctly streaked with pale reddish-brown.
Shell height is up to 12.7 mm, and width is up to 4.4 mm.
