Angus Robertson

Angus Robertson (born 28 September 1969, Wimbledon, London, England) is a Scottish National Party politician. In 2001, he was first elected as Member of Parliament for Moray in the north of Scotland. In May 2007, he was appointed as leader of the SNP group in the British House of Commons, succeeding Alex Salmond.

He was born to a Scottish father and German mother. Robertson was educated at Broughton High School, Edinburgh and the University of Aberdeen, where he earned a degree in politics and international relations. Before his election in May 2001, he worked as a journalist, most notably as a central European diplomatic correspondent for the BBC.

He is the SNP's spokesman on Defence and International Relations, and is well above average amongst MPs in his contributions to Parliament. He has consistently been amongst the 30 MPs who claim the most expenses, mainly due to high travel expenses. Robertson provided Swiss Senator Dick Marty a report containing what he calls 'a detailed report of numerous suspect movements of aircraft transiting through Scotland.
