The village runs parallel to the A40 and is located on the River Coln. Amenities include a village post office, two community or village halls, a primary school, a pub called the Royal Oak, two local shops and a (mostly disused) animal stock market.
In easy reach of Andoversford are three other pubs/restaurants: The Frog Mill, a large hotel/pub/restaurant on the road from the A40 to Gloucester; The Kilkenny, a more upmarket, and more expensive, restaurant further up the same road; and The Mill at Withington, a Samuel Smiths owned pub off the forementioned road in the small village of Withington.
Cheltenham town is 15 minutes, on a quiet Sunday morning at 9 am, further down the A40; Gloucester is a mere 25 minutes, approximately.
There is an industrial estate adjacent to the village. There was an incident here on 4 September 2006 which resulted in a few days of disruptions to the villagers; see link below.
