Ancer Lee Haggerty
(born 1944, Vanport, Oregon
) is Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court
for the District of Oregon
. At the time of his nomination to the federal bench by President Clinton
in 1993, he was serving as an Oregon circuit court
judge. He graduated University of Oregon
with a B.S.
in 1967, and after service in the United States Marine Corps
from 1967 to 1970, entered Hastings College of Law
of the University of California
, earning a J.D.
in 1973. After four years in the Metropolitan Public Defenders office in Portland, Oregon
he entered private practice.
