Aloe polyphylla, or Spiral Aloe, is a species in the genus Aloe. Native to Lesotho, from the Drakensberg mountains, this aloe is well known for its strikingly symmetrical, five-pointed spiral growth habit. Although it is often mentioned as an endangered species, it does not appear on the 2007 IUCN Red List.
It is however listed in Appendix I of Cites which confirms its status as a protected species.
