Allahyarov (derived from the Arabic word for God, Allah)
is an
Azerbaijani family name. It is believed that this name
carriers (Allahyarly) were settled in the south-eastern
Georgia in X-XI centuries. In former times that area was known as
Borchaly (or
Borchali)

, nowadays the Georgians call it
Kvemo Kartli and
Kakheti.
Due its geographic position as a west side of former Borchaly
region, the Allahyarovs were in permanent contact with other ethnic groups living in the neighborhood: with the
Georgians,
Armenians,
Greeks,
Russians,
Kurds and especially with the
Georgian Jews. This had a tremendous impact on the family identity of Allahyarovs. They are open-minded, very guest-caring and multi-lingua. Due to frequent inter-national marriage between the Allahyarovs and other ethnic groups, Allahyarovs are genetically healthy with high life expectancy above 80 years and with only few
genetic diseases and disorders much below the average rate for the
Caucasus area.
Allahyarov is now a widespread family name due to the migration of the Borchaly descendants to the
Azerbaijan Republic (
Baku),
Russian Federation (
Moscow),
Germany (
Düsseldorf),
United States (
Cleveland, OH). Allahyarovs mostly are well educated with more affinity to natural sciences. The Family seal and symbol is a
Rose devoted to the most recognized and respected family member Rosa Allahyarova-
Lezgishvili (a.k.a. Roza khanim, tyotya Roza, Roza khala, Roza mamida, Rosalie).
