Ahraura is a city and a municipal board in Mirzapur district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Geography

Ahraura is located at . It has an average elevation of 87 metres (285 feet). Aharaura has many famous places from the point of view holyness as there is a temple situated in rocky mountain and there is stone letter which is by Emperor Ashok. The previous landlord of Ahraura is "Shree Sadayatan Pandey alias Badey Sarkar. He is very kind person and was M.L.C. and M.P. of Mirzapur Constituency. Previously most of the land of Ahraura belongs to him after that he has distributed many lands to poor people now his tenant is Dr veena Pandey who is ex. M.L.C. and Vice President of the Bhartiya Janta Party. There is famous Kothi in Ahraura named Shree Bhavan.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Ahraura had a population of 23,142. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Ahraura has an average literacy rate of 52%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; with 63% of the males and 37% of females literate. 18% of the population is under 6 years of age.
