Ağdam (also, Agdam and Aghdam) is a city in and the capital of the Agdam Rayon in southwestern Azerbaijan. It is currently a ghost town having been occupied by Armenian forces in July 1993 during the ongoing dispute over the Nagorno-Karabakh area. "Though the city was never the setting of combat, it fell victim to vandalism while occupied by Armenians. The buildings are gutted and empty, with only the graffiti-covered mosque remaining intact.
