2BE (TV channel)

2BE (pronounced like "two be") is a Belgian television channel owned by the commercial broadcasting company Vlaamse Media Maatschappij. Since this also owns vtm and JIM (as well as radio channels), it's not uncommon for programs (especially reruns) to be passed on from one channel to another.

Names

The channel has undergone several rebrandings over the years. At launch in 1995, the channel was known as Ka2. Then they changed it to Kanaal 2 (which the original abbreviation stood for, yet in Dutch also the pronunciation of K2; English: Channel 2). In 2001, the name of the channel was changed once again to KANAALTWEE (English: CHANNELTWO). Finally, on February 29th 2008, KANAALTWEE rebranded itself one more time and changed its name to 2BE, retaining the 2 but referring to the Belgian ISO Country Code BE.
